It is with great honor, pride, and enthusiasm that I am privileged to represent the African American employees of Xerox Corporation in the Rochester area.  During my tenure at Xerox I’ve observed many and have taken part in several of the opportunities that have been afforded Blacks by the efforts and determination of previous leaders and members of this caucus group.  The changes that have occurred in both society and here at Xerox could not have taken place without the strength, courage and conviction of people standing together for a just cause and purpose.   From the pioneering days of CARI (Concerned Association of Rochester, Incorporated) and now during these times of economic upheavals, the mission and value of RBEA remains constant:

·          To identify and expose barriers to African American career advancement in the workplace, then work with Xerox management to remove them.

·          Foster and create vehicles for skills enhancement through training, seminars and networking.

·          Encourage our members to have a visible, positive impact within the Black Community by sharing and providing skills and support where appropriate.

We stand today at an unprecedented point in history where we have witnessed the election of the first African American President of the United States and the selection of the first African American woman as CEO of a Fortune 100 company. We’ve experienced the collapse of major financial institutions and the disintegration of mighty industrial giants.  Through it all we must continue to forge the bonds of unity, commitment, and service that will assure the ongoing growth and advancement of the African American community within Xerox and the Greater Rochester area.  We must leverage the gifts and talents that diversity and inclusion bring to the table of free enterprise so that we play a vital role in the growth, development and performance of Xerox Corporation.
